Harvell “Maggie” Magee

Our loving father, Harvell “Maggie” Magee, died peacefully on Sept. 22, 2024, at Beehive Homes in Bosque Farms at the young age of 96.

His son, Michael Magee, and daughter, Maureen Dunagan, were by his side.

Harvell was born in Prentiss, Miss. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and that’s when he was nicknamed “Maggie.” He was an aircraft mechanic and traveled all over the world.

He met the love of his life, Maureen “Toni” Harris, and they married in Roswell in 1950.

After seven years, Maggie left the Air Force, and they went to Mississippi to run a small cafe and general store. Then he went to work in the oil fields on the gulf.

Maggie joined the civil service and moved to Ellison AFB in Pasadena, Texas, where he was an engine mechanic. After a couple of years, they settled in Albuquerque, and he did quality assurance at Kirtland AFB. They built a house in the South Valley off Second Street.

After 20 years, they moved to St. Louis, and Maggie worked for McDonnell Douglas. Then they moved around the country, and he worked for the Underground Missile Program as a welder and inspector. After a few years they settled in Los Lunas.

Maggie is survived by his brother, Don; his first cousins, Jane Caldwell and Ford Fortenbeny, and his son, Michael (Gloria) and Maureen (Joe).

Michael has two children, Robyn and Brian. Robyn has four children, Kyla, Kyle, Damian and Savanna. Kyla (Brandon) has two children, Adelyn and Ozias. Brian has three children, Isabelle, Gabby and Daniel. Maureen has two boys, Gary and Rory. Gary (Liz) has two children, Autumn-Joy and Howard.

Maggie was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen; and daughter, Honora “Nora” Thompson.

Maggie will be laid to rest in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
