1941-2024

Joe E. Gonzales, age 83, a resident of Belen, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 7, 2024.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17, beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m., a Rosary at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Georgia Carrillo Gonzales; sons, Michael (Janet) and Matthew; grandsons, Victor (Joylene), Mateo, and Casimiro (Casey Joe) Gonzales; brother, Casimiro (Connie); in-laws, Marcella Chavira, Mario Pino and Eva Carrillo; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and lifelong friends, Joe and Lucy Tapia.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Nazario and Josie Martinez Gonzales; favorite sister, Susan Pino; and nephew, Tony Gonzales.

Joe retired from Sandia Labs, where he worked as supervisor in the tech department. A natural athlete, he played baseball, golfed and bowled, and his love for sports took him and his wife, Georgia, to many competitions and ball games.

Joe was the joker of the family and loved telling stories and playing his harmonica at family events.
