Johnathan Roy Potts
1984-2024
Johnathan “John” Roy Potts, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2024.
John was born on Sept. 11, 1984, in Albuquerque, to Michael Potts and Robin King. From the day John was born, he possessed a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. He had a heart of gold and created unforgettable memories with everyone he encountered.
John’s passion for bull riding took him all over the state of New Mexico. His father would like to give special thanks to the Cadieux family for the support they provided John during his time in rodeo. He would also like to give thanks to the Gibson family for always treating John like one of their own.
John loved hunting and fishing with his dad and both of his grandpas; it was always fun to see who could catch the most and the biggest! His nana, Sandy, was like a second mom; the bond they shared was unbreakable. He also shared a special bond with his nana Terezia; she cannot count the times she had to wake up in the middle of the night to go to his side because he wanted only her.
John is survived by his parents, Mike and Mary Lou Potts; sisters, Teresa and Kasandra (Kassie) Potts; stepbrothers, Eric, Kyle, Tyrel and Jeremiah McElroy; nana, Terezia Potts; papa, Roy, and nana, Sandy King; along with aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Robin King; papa, Dale Potts; and uncle, Jeff King.
A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the Bosque Farms Arena, with time for gathering to follow. For additional information you may contact Teresa Potts at 480-818-3515 or lilt2216@yahoo.com.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support during this difficult time.
