Jose Santos “Joseph” Otero, born Jan. 8, 1959, age 65, of Belen, passed away peacefully in his home on July 26, 2024, with his loving wife and family never leaving his side.
Jose graduated from Los Lunas High School, and went on to join the U.S. Army to serve our country. Joseph was stationed in Neckarsubon, West Germany, in the 3rd BN 84th FA. Artillery Kaserne, in charge of Pershing missiles SP4 Field Artillery. When he got out of the military, he worked as correctional officer.
He was considered one of the best DJs in Valencia County, and was a very talented musician and singer.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Priscilla J. Chavez Otero; daughter, Linda Otero; stepson, Philip Gabaldon (Brandee); grandchildren, Amanda Mateo, Gabriel Gabaldon and Alexander Hollier; four great-grandchildren; sister, Dolores Otero Padilla; brother, Donljo Otero (Marcella); and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Joseph will take place on Friday, Aug. 23, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A visitation will take place at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Joseph will then be placed to rest at the Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Serving as pallbearer will be Randy Sisneros.
