Lewis John Lockhart
1992- 2024
Lewis John Lockhart, of Los Lunas, died on Saturday, May 18. He was 32 years old.
Beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and cousin, he is survived by his parents, Randy and Theresa Lockhart; sister, Kristine Torres-Lockhart; brother-in-law, William Schpero; nephew, Jack Schpero; grandmother, Peggy Torres; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born in Albuquerque, Lewis graduated from Valencia High School. A talented and decorated athlete, he was the first male student at Valencia to earn All-District honors across three varsity sports in the same year — football, wrestling and baseball. Loved and respected by his teammates and coaches alike, he received numerous awards and recognitions for his talent, sportsmanship and dedication to his teams.
Lewis attended Eastern New Mexico University on a football scholarship and graduated from Central New Mexico Community College with an associate degree in integrated studies; he received additional post-graduate training in data science. Self-motivated, ambitious and always reading, Lewis applied his talents across a number of different career paths.
He was most passionate about health and wellness and served as a health coach, proud of his ability to help others become the best they could be and meet their goals through hard work, positive thinking and dedication. Lewis was known for his generous spirit and great sense of humor, with a keen ability to make anybody laugh and a magnetic smile that could light up any room.
An avid hiker, he loved spending time outdoors, exploring new trails across New Mexico with his dogs, Chico and Tulley, and family. A natural competitor and lover of sports, Lewis enjoyed watching baseball and football games and playing board games, pool, darts and bowling with his family (sometimes letting them win).
Lewis always wanted to give back to others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Joy Junction, in Albuquerque, in Lewis’ honor.
Services will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Peralta.
