Manuel C. Lopez, Sr. a dedicated patriot and beloved family man, peacefully departed this world on May 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to Eutimio and Maria Lopez, Manuel’s journey began on Dec. 31, 1935, growing up in a household of love and integrity.

Manuel’s commitment to service ignited at a young age, leading him to proudly serve his country across three military branches (Air Force, Army and Navy) from 1954 to 1978. After his military service, he was a zealous aircraft mechanic before he joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an inspector in 1983. His unwavering dedication earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.

Manuel found his greatest joy in his role as a devoted husband and father. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his beloved wife, Rose P. Lopez, who stood by his side through every triumph and trial. Together, they raised a beautiful family filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.

Manuel’s legacy lives on through his children, Manual C. Lopez Jr. and his wife, Dorthe Lopez, David Lopez, Dorothy Lopez-Koglin and Daniel Lopez.

Though he has bid farewell to his son, Juan Ramon Lopez; and grandson, William Carlos Allen Koglin, their spirits remain intertwined with his forever.

His grandchildren, Alisha Spiva, Jacob Lopez, Adrian Lopez and Isabella Lopez, were the light of his life, each carrying a piece of his wisdom and kindness forward into the world. Manuel’s sister, Anita Maner; in-laws, Alberto Pena and spouse, Judy, Gloria Robles and spouse, Tony, and Nellie Ruiz; and numerous nieces and nephews mourn his passing while celebrating his impact on their lives.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Eutimio and Maria Lopez; brother, David Lopez; and sisters, Dora Houck, Josephina Flores, Juanita Torrez and Juagina Hardin.

Manuel leaves a legacy of resilience and unconditional love. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish his memory, and his spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.

Services for Manuel will take place on Friday, June 7, at the Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel in Roswell, N.M. A Rosary will take place at 10 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Manuel will then be placed to rest at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell immediately following services.

Though Manuel may have taken his final salute, his spirit will forever soar among the stars, guiding and protecting those he loved.

Rest in peace, dear Manuel. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will shine on eternally in our hearts.
