M.G. “Manny” Martinez Jr.

1935-2024

M.G. “Manny” Martinez Jr., age 88, a resident of Los Chavez and Parkview, N.M., was called to the Lord on Oct. 21, 2024.

Tentative services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 14. Tentative interment will take place at San Jose Parish in Los Ojos on Friday, Nov. 15.

He is survived by his children, Trey (Rebeca), Miguel (Colleen) and Monica (Michael); 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; beloved sister, Mabel Velasquez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

M.G. is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Romero; parents and brother, Henry.

He was born in 1935 in Chimayo, N.M., to the late M.G. Sr. and Sabinita Trujillo Martinez. M.G. retired from the Department of Energy, Albuquerque field office as a senior program engineer. He was the recipient of the 1992 New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award for community service from the U.S. secretary of energy. M.G. was named by New Mexico State University as one of the Top 100 Alumni from the College of Engineering.
