Mom’s family was grateful she got to live her final years as a very happy widow in California, where she devoted herself to her family, and found joy in every day.

Myrna Sipe was born in West Texas, but spent most of her life living in the Rio Grande Valley, particularly in Belen. She worked full-time, until retirement, as a medical technologist at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School while raising her daughters.

We will all miss her generous laughter, her love of sports, her fine cooking and that unforgettable Texas twang, which she never lost, even after all those years of living in New Mexico.

Myrna is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Amy) and Vikki (Frank); her granddaughters, Lindsey (Jason) and Missy (Phillip); her very beloved great-grandchildren, Xavi, Ellis and Kora; and her sister, Cathie Pearson; and niece, Cherie Pearson. She also leaves behind many friends and the best neighbor ever, Marcella Chavira.

Her family also wants to acknowledge the caring that Mom, and all the rest of us, received from hospice in her final days. Donations in Myrna’s honor can be made to Hospice Santa Cruz (hospicesantacruz.org), but please celebrate her life in whatever way is meaningful to you.

Her family will hold a celebration of Myrna’s life at a future date.
