Thomas M. Caldwell
1946-2025
Thomas M. Caldwell passed on May 20, 2025, in Eaglecreek, Ore.
He was born in Beardstown, Ill., on June 29, 1946. He has five children.
He will be remembered as an EMT and fire chief of the Valencia County Volunteer Fire Station in Rio Communities from 1993-2001 and a first class petty officer in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. The world may never again know such an interesting character as Thomas Caldwell!

Consuelo “Consie” Griego
1940-2025
Consuelo “Consie” Griego, age 85, a resident of Veguita for more than 70 years, passed away on June 2, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Services will be held at San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita on Friday, July 18, beginning with a visitation at 10 a.m., a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at San Juan Catholic Cemetery.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; Sisto Griego; children, Juan Griego, Jim Griego (Patricia), Yvonne Griego (Bobby Cobbins), Sharon Gonzales (Eric), Sandra Garcia (Danny) and Kim Griego (Jolene); 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren one great-great grandchild; sister, Irene Romero; and brother-in-law, Arthur Zubiate.
Consie is preceded in death by parents, Jenaro and Trinidad Baca Black; brothers, Alfred “Florence” and Gilbert Black; sisters, Rosie Garcia (Louie), Lillian Baca (Jimmy), Rosemary Saiz (Folie) and Margaret Zubiate; father-in-law, Juan Griego; and mother-in-law, Cyprianna Griego.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, Sisto, for more than 65 years. Consie was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in La Joya San Juan Mission for over 60 years, where she was a mayordomo many times and padrino for Baby Jesus.
She also made alter cloths for San Juan Mission and always made floral arrangements for the Blessed Sacrament. Consie planted trees and shrubs around San Juan Mission as well. She was also a CCD teacher, and DRE for Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, and one of the first members of St. Vincent de Paul.
Consie’s love of her church community was a way of life for her. As the years went by, she was not able to participate physically, but she would continue to find ways to help the community grow their faith. Consie also donated much of her time to community service.
She was in the Women’s Auxiliary for the local fire department, was assistant and coach/nurse for her sons’ Little League team for many years, and was a 4-H leader in a cooking and sewing class.

Andrea C. Otero
1981-2025
Andrea C. Otero, age 44, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 16, beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m., Rosary at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Andrea is preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray Montiel; grandparents, José U. Otero and Filomena Otero, and Louis G. Ray and Jennie P. Ray.
She is survived by her children, Raul, Alejandro, Mario and Destiny; parents, Leon and Joan Otero; siblings, José (Veronica), Manuel (Jade), Antonio (Julia) and Monica (Joseph); and numerous nephews, uncles, nieces, aunts and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Raul Otero, Alejandro and Mario Montiel and José, Manuel and Antonio Otero. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Otero.

Marguerite R. Sons
1929-2025
Marguerite “Maggie” was born to Walter V. and Marguerite J. Meech in Philadelphia, Pa.
In 1943, at the age of 14, Maggie moved with her family to Albuquerque. That’s where she met the love of her life, Mack. They married in April 1947 and had two daughters, Pam and Paula. Maggie was a homemaker and the love she had for her family and home was an obvious blessing.
Maggie was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Marguerite Meech; brothers, Walter and Charles Meech; and her husband of 71 years, Mack Sons.
Maggie is survived by her sister, Alice Edwards; her daughters, Pamela Ahlgrim (John) and Paula Middlesworth (Kenneth); grandchildren, Bradley Ahlgrim (Annette), Scott Ahlgrim (Amy), Christopher Ahlgrim (Brittany), Kimberly Berscheid (Aaron) and Krista Butters (Jason); 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
We are extremely grateful for the kindness, respect and love she received at the Beehive Home in Bosque Farms, for the past two years. It became her home away from home.
Maggie lived her life with love and grace. As we are filled with sadness, our hearts are full of her love, laughter and memories that will live forever.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., July 26, at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel.
