Mary Anderson

1961-2025

Mary Anderson

Mary Martha Anderson, 63, of Albuquerque, passed away on March 13, 2025.

Born on May 30, 1961, in Belen, to James and Virginia Anderson, Mary shined bright with love, compassion and kindness throughout her life.

Mary is survived by her son, Adam Anderson; brothers, James Steven and Paul Anderson; sisters, Helen Anderson, Maurine Davis, Loraine Sanchez and Dolores Yarosz; many nieces and nephews, her beloved cat, Mia; and her dearest life-long friend, Lynda King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Catherine Anderson; brother, Philip Anderson; and long-time partner, Gerald Mathis.

Following graduation, Mary worked much of her life in veterinary medical care, taking care of injured and sick animals and in health care, where she assisted and cared for the home-bound. Mary loved all of God’s creatures from the tiniest insect to the feistiest giant mammal, and had an amazing gift which she blessed the earth with, showing kindness and compassion toward all creatures.

Mary had the ability to help the most vulnerable and sickest people and animals in her community. Mary made sure never to miss birthdays and special events of other’s lives, reminding them of their importance and celebrating their lives.

Although Mary will be greatly missed on this earth, she lives on in Heaven in peace with her beloved departed family, friends and creatures.

In accordance with her wishes she has been cremated. To honor Mary, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a women’s homeless shelter and/or animal shelter of your choosing.

A celebration of life was held on May 17, 2025.

Frances E. Carrion

Frances Carrion

Fran Carrion (Hixon, Brown) passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, in Albuquerque, surrounded by the love of her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Carrion.

Fran was born Feb. 3, 1944, in Independence, Kan., to her parents, George and Mary Louise Hixon, and is the middle sister to her siblings, Georgeanne Maberry (Robert) and Joel Hixon (Carol).

Fran is the loving mother to Michael Brown (Melissa), and affectionate aunt to Ericka Paul (Michael and children), Debbie (Ted and children) and David (Dianne and children), as well as a caring stepmother to Karyn Chavez (Richard) and Antoinette Gonzales.

Fran adored her grandchildren, Julien Brown (Marcella), Gabriel Brown, Gabriel Chavez (Jamie Lynn), Amanda Moore, Christopher Chavez (Monique), Nichole Gonzales-Jaramillo, James Gonzales (Tiffany) and Dominic Gonzales (Ashley). Fran had the great joy of her great-grandchildren, Skylynn Moore, Jackson and Angela Chavez, Amari, Santiago and Gemma Jaramillo, Olivia Gonzales and soon-to-be-born, Avahlynn Gonzales.

She is also survived by a handful of close friends, including Melinda Rodgers, Rita and Wayne Galdony and Vera Carrion-Schauweker.

Fran devoted her life to being a professional seamstress, fulfilling the needs and wants of her many customers, friends and family, at times, even creating one-of-a-kind wedding gowns. Her creativity was prolific and was wide-ranged from sewing, needle work, crocheting to baking, while sewing remained her true hallmark and joy.

Her family and friends all have special memories of receiving a handmade gift from Fran. She was an active member of the Belen Art League, selling her popular “Frani Bags.” Fran would frequently break into a song and would tell you her opinions openly.

She enjoyed her daily Bible devotions and readings and loved the Lord deeply. Fran had the great capacity to create community wherever she lived and will be deeply missed.

A special thank you to the Presbyterian Hospice team, especially Jessica Sanchez and Lesly Manriquez Bravo, for their great care of Fran.

Donna Loyd

1972-2025

Donna Loyd, age 52, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Oct. 18, 2025.

There are no services scheduled at this time.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheyenne; sons, Sean, Kody and Nizhoni; parents, Pat and Mary Casey; sisters, Tammy (Wes) and Kristina (Dom); brother, Derek; and many nieces and nephews.

Lonnie N. Perea

Lonnie Perea

In loving memory of Lonnie N. Perea, age 79, a resident of Los Lunas, born Feb. 1, 1946, passed away Oct. 16, 2025.

Services will take place at Valencia Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Times are currently pending. Interment will follow at Valencia Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery.

He is survived by his five children, Audrey Angus, April Perea,

Garrett Rich, Nathan Perea and Ashlee Evans; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and brother, Loren Perea.

Dolores “Lola” Torrez

1934-2025

Dolores Torrez

Dolores “Lola” Torrez, a lifelong resident of Adelino, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 10, 2025.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1934, in Adelino, to Ernesto and Eufemia Chavira. Lola was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Tomé Catholic Church and active member of the 10 o’clock choir for many years.

Her faith and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for children at Tiny Tots Nursery in Belen, and also worked faithfully at Nino’s Lumber, Tabet Lumber and RAKS Lumber and Hardware, where her kindness and hard work were deeply appreciated.

She is survived by her beloved children, Juan Jose Johnny Torrez, Magdalen Perea, Leroy and Diane Torrez and Eufemia (Famie) and Ted Trujillo; her loving sisters, Aurora Sanchez and Eloisa Padilla; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Torrez; her parents, Ernesto and Eufemia Chavira; her son, Ralph Torrez; her grandson, Juan Estevan; and her sister, Altagracia Chavira.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center for their wonderful care and compassion for our beloved mother and nana.

They also wish to express heartfelt thanks to the many friends and community members who have reached out with unwavering love and support during this time.

Lola will be remembered for her faith, her kindness and the deep love she had for her family and community. Her presence will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Services took place Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment followed at Tomé Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were be TJ Trujillo, Jarod Perea, Jason Perea, LeRoy Torrez, Patrick Jaramillo and Gabe Perea. Honorary pallbearers will be Julie Ann Orrantia and Darlene Sanchez.
