Reagan Lee Godfrey
1952-2024
Reagan Lee Godfrey, aged 72, a life-long resident of Belen, passed away on Nov. 18, 2024.
Reagan was born on Sept. 16, 1952, to Hallie and Theo (Riley) Godfrey. Reagan graduated from Belen High School in 1972, where he was a member of the FFA. After graduation, Reagan went to work at the BNSF Railroad, where he worked as a switchman and conductor for 42 years. Reagan’s love for the railroad and trains continued long after his retirement.
Reagan married the love of his life, Patricia (Stevenson) Godfrey, on July 21, 1973, and they had two sons, Patrick and Nathan Godfrey. Reagan and Patricia celebrated their 51st anniversary this past year.
Reagan was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He cherished his role of “papa” and was the cornerstone of his family. He was the kindest, friendliest, most loving, generous man and, all who knew him, loved him. He was not only a gentleman but truly a “gentle man.”
Reagan was a father to many and taught us all what good men, husbands and fathers should be. Being a grandfather came naturally to him, and he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, Weston and Lilly. He spent his time “tinkering” and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing, caring for beloved pets (Roscoe his favorite) and carving special wooden gifts for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Theo Godfrey.
Reagan is survived by his wife, Patricia Godfrey; his son, Patrick Godfrey and wife, Gloria; his son, Nathan Godfrey and wife, Alicia (and her mom, Kris); his daughter-in-law, Christi Fields and husband, Zachary Aron; his grandson, Weston Godfrey; and granddaughter, Lilly Godfrey. Reagan is also survived by his best friend of 50 years, Henry Ingram, who he loved like a brother. He is survived by two cousins, Jeannie Johnston of Harrell, Ark., and Sally Muckle, of Tehachapi, Calif., as well as many other friends and family who loved him.
A private family memorial service is to be held at a later date. Currently, the family is asking for privacy as we process this sudden tragic loss. We thank everyone for their love and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity close to Reagan’s heart, pet adoption at the Valencia County Animal Shelter.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, where an online guest register is available at noblin.com.
