Ronald “Ronnie” Tabet, age 75, a resident of Belen, passed away on Feb. 17, 2024.

Services will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a visitation at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie is survived by his son, Christopher R. Tabet; stepson, James Romero (Joy); and granddaughters, Isabelle, Eva and Sophia, and Kylie and Kiera; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marybelle Romero Tabet; parents, Carlos and Theresa Lovato Tabet; brothers, Chico, Boni and Gilbert Tabet; sister, Elvia Tabet; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Bolz (Tom); nephew, Russell Sanchez; and niece, Kathleen Tabet-Groman.

Ronnie was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, the Lion’s Club, Greater Belen Chamber of Commerce, Hispano Chamber of Valencia County, and the Belen Knights of Columbus.

He was a graduate of Belen High School and received his degree from New Mexico Highlands University.

Ronnie was a prominent businessman in Belen. Modern Speedwash and Tabet Insurance were among those owned, but Carlos’ Cantina was his pride and joy.

He was a great man who put a smile on many faces. Ronnie enjoyed golf in his free time, and loved his trips to Las Vegas.

Pallbearers will be Michael Jaramillo, Frank Jaramillo, Charles Tabet, Phillip Tabet, Sam Espinosa and Joe Griego. Honorary pallbearers will be Angelica Vallejos and Randy Sanchez.
