Roy Lin King, 83, of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024.
Roy was born on Nov. 23,1940, to George and Elva King in Kentucky. After Roy graduated from high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served our country for four years.
Roy absolutely loved to work. He was a construction superintendent for many years; he worked on every major highway in New Mexico and the Four Corners area. After Roy retired from construction, you could usually find him outside caring for animals, working on a vehicle or keeping his yard beautiful.
Roy had a love for music, especially gospel, which he sang with his sister when they were young. He could play almost any instrument he touched; his favorites were guitar, banjo and harmonica.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sandy King; children, Cathy Godfrey and Kevin King; grandchildren, Teresa Potts, Kassie Potts, Harlee Holloway, Jeremiah King, BreAnn King Chapin, Stewart Wilson and Daniel Wilson; siblings, George Earl King, Brenda King-Stitzel, Ronald “Buck” King, Judy King-Foust and Allen King; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elva King; children, Jeff King and Robin King; grandsons, John Potts and Kevin King Jr.; siblings, Ralph King, Shirley King-Chitwood, Ken King and Larry King.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 1, at Westside Family Chapel, 630 Taylor Road NE, Los Lunas, with a potluck to follow.
