Ruth Pauline Thomen-Hanks

1934-2024

Ruth Pauline Thomen-Hanks, age 90, was a resident of Belen since 1989, born in Albuquerque on Aug. 12, 1934, to Roscoe and Anita Thomen.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Hanks; parents, Roscoe and Anita Thomen; brother, Tom Thomen; sister, Judith M. Kock; son, Jeffrey Owen; daughters, Lynette Owen, Lucille Aragon and Charlotte Leon; grandson, Jeremy Kaiser; great-grandson, Dylan Kaiser; and great-granddaughter, Desirae Barela.

Ruth is survived by her son, Michael Kaiser; daughter, Monica Anderson; grandchildren, Shelly, Angel and Tom, Jennifer and Alaric, Michelle and Elliott, Daryl and Victoria, Cody and Haley, Amanda and Paul, Tyler and Vickie, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ruth attended school at St. Vincent Academy and graduated high school at St. Mary’s in Albuquerque in 1952. Ruth also continued to put herself through college at TVI technical school and graduated in 1973.

Ruth worked for Missouri Research Instrument Service Laboratories from 1975-2005. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, and she was a proud member of the Belen Senior Citizens Center.

We want to give a special thanks to Dr. Richard Madden and Dr. Mark Moriarty and Presbyterian Health Care for the wonderful care that you provided to Ruth. We would also like to thank Romero Funeral Home.

Ruth was an amazing and kind woman, and she loved so unconditionally. She would always be there for her family no matter what and she loved her family so dearly. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Ruth’s services were held Nov. 18 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was transported to Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque on Edith.
