Stanley “Stan” Leonard Tafoya, age 65, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully at home with many angels by his side on May 30, 2024.

Services will take place on Friday, June 21, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery.

Stan is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ross; son, Joe (Melinda); daughter, Tiffany; grandchildren, Jacob and Savana; brothers, Michael (Deb) and Raymond; longtime companion, Angela; mother-in-law, Elsie Ross; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who love and miss him very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lorina Garley Tafoya; siblings, Leroy, John and Eileen; grandparents, Estanislado Leonard Stanley (who he was named after) and Jenny Carbajal Garley; father-in-law, Joe G. Ross, whom he adored and missed very much.

Stanley was known by “Stan” and “Stan the man.” Stan worked as a carpenter, center finisher, construction and sculptor. He was a Stan of all trades and loved doing jobs and keeping busy.

Stan was a caring son, who cared for his mother and father until their death. Up until his last days, he always had energy to help when needed.

He was a dedicated Kansas City Chief’s fan, and was so proud of his team. Every Thursday, he had to have his “mitotero” paper (News-Bulletin); he loved that paper. Stan loved the outdoors; he spent many days out camping in Pecos, and all over New Mexico and Arizona, enjoying the beautiful scenery and laughing with his friends.

Many of Stan’s family and friends who passed before him brought much sadness but he knew someday he would be with them again. Stan prayed every day and his saying was, “It’s going to be OK.”

Thank you to the hospice team and special caregivers, Jen and Angela.
