Wayne L. Golliheair

Wayne L. Golliheair, 81, of Jarales, went home to meet our Lord on Nov. 7, 2024.

Wayne was born in Belen on Dec. 31, 1942, and graduated from Los Lunas High School. Our dad experienced many ventures, challenges and obstacles on his journey of becoming a successful businessman but, no matter how tough the situation, he never quit!

Our dad worked as a produce manager for Barbers Supermarkets, an assistant manager for Piggly Wiggly stores in Albuquerque and Belen and later worked for BNSF Railroad as a switchman, while he began purchasing land.

As a young husband and father, he had dreams for his children and how to provide for his family and this led to the next 60 years doing things “Wayne’s way.” We remember his daily words, “Do what you want, but I want it done this way!”

He purchased his first semi-truck and began buying and selling hay. Our dad, with the support of his wife and his five children, built a successful family-owned business, incorporating farming, ranching and real estate.

As rough as farming/ranching life can be at times, our dad loved it — it was in his blood! Our dad worked hard all his life and taught his children the importance of having courage, strength, perseverance and a strong work ethic.

Our dad was preceded in death by his father, Anthon Wayne Golliheair; his mother, Claudia Alva Sanchez; his granddaughter, Kenadee Brooke Golliheair; and his grandson, Caleb Elijah Baca.

Our dad is survived by his five children, Wayne Jr. (Henrietta), Lori (Salomon), Pamela, Shannon (Denee), Jeremy (Sarah); and their mother, Karen Sanchez. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Joshua, Blaine, Desiree, Alyssa, Jacob, Dana, Ashlee, Taylor, Bailee, Sebastian, Paris, Amber, Landon, Dalton, Bristyn, Kash and the last of the herd, baby, on the way, Lakyn Grace; 15 great-grandchildren, three siblings, and his companion, Lola Penny Allison; and his little sunshine, A’Maree.

Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 21. The viewing will be from 10-11 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m.
