God Weeps

While mankind so blatantly fights their wars

Upon each other to maim, kill and destroy,

His heart is torn and bleeds from shore to shore

For every man, woman, girl and boy.

We so casually thrown away His gifts to us

That of life, choice, freedom and love

Our gracious Lord’s tears fall upon the Earth’s dust

While He lovingly looks on from above.

Our freedom to choose is what causes us pain

Whenever we look at our choice of wrong from right,

The Lord sees that the Devil smiles and gains,

But the battle is coming when the Lord truly reigns.

If we could but see beyond this day

Further than this daily battle we fight,

Then God would show us where there is pace and we could stay

Our hurting hearts would fill with love upon this wondrous sight.

Though our Savior is now sad and weeps

While looking down upon the Earth’s population

He knows the outcome of the final battle where there will be no grief

The tears will dry upon his cheeks and His children will be

Home in His perfect creation.
