King Donald’s actions

Editor:

Canada, Panama, Greenland. These are all independent sovereign nations or parts of other nations.

Only dictators, such as Russia’s butcher Vladimir Putin, claim the territory of another nation or threaten to invade one. Until now, the United States has respected the sovereignty of other nations. Now, however, King Donald threatens to take over all or parts of those countries or territories by force, if necessary, to assuage his disturbed desires.

King Donald speaks for himself. Unfortunately, many members of the Trump cult (formerly the once great Republican Party) in Congress either tacitly support his imperialist goals or do not have the guts to stand up to their leader.

Trump and leaders of his cult of personality owe a deep apology to the American people and the rest of the civilized world for claiming to speak for the American people.

A few more points:

It is time that people who listen to King Donald come to grips with the fact that he is a pathological liar and most of what he says is outright false or something out of one of his hallucinations.

Two, Peter Hegseth as defense secretary: is this a joke? China and Russia will eat him alive when they deal directly with this lightweight.

And I am eagerly waiting for the price of eggs and other foods to drop under Trump!

Please support SB99

Editor:

As a resident of Los Lunas since 2014 and a science educator from New Mexico, I strongly urge our representatives to support SB99, the Methane Emissions Reduction Act. My deep appreciation for the environment and all living things has inspired me to write this letter.

It is essential to recognize the negative impact that the Clean Transportation Fuel Standard, signed by Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2024, has on our community’s agriculture and family farms. Mega dairies harm local economies and contribute to increased pollution levels. The CTFS incentivizes these large-scale operations, which can negatively affect our environment. In response, SB99, or MERA, has the potential to limit and reduce these incentives, thereby protecting our environment and supporting sustainable farming practices in the village of Los Lunas and the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, studies show that reducing methane emissions can significantly improve air quality and promote healthier communities. I encourage my fellow community members to share this message with friends and family and to attend local discussions on the topic, such as those organized by Food and Water Watch of New Mexico.

Currently, the oil and gas industry purchases emission credits generated by factory farms, which allows them to offset their emissions and results in misleadingly low carbon intensity scores. This inaccurately represents their actual emissions and rewards large corporate factory farms, making it challenging for small farms to compete.

In contrast, small farms that utilize sustainable waste practices, promote the ethical treatment of animals, and follow regenerative and traditional farming methods are at a disadvantage.

Please support SB99, the Methane Emissions Reduction Act.
