Murzyn, Bayless capture WGA Partner’s Tournament

Members of the Women’s Golf Association enjoyed a Partner’s Tournament in April at Tierra Del Sol Golf Course.

RIO COMMUNITIES — A Partner’s Tournament on Wednesday, April 16, was the featured event for the Women’s Golf Association during the month of April.

Winners of that tournament were Berta Murzyn and Kathryn Bayless, with second place going to Edie Redfearn-Moore and Tammie Fuller.

Starting off the month was the usual scramble on April 2. Scramble winners were Marilyn Jaramillo, Fuller, Paula Valdez and Joanne Romero. Anna Martinez, Marilyn Winters, Dorothy Lindberg and Bayless were the second-place team.

Ace Day winners for the month were Fuller for the Wednesday Ladies 18 group were Jennifer Montano for the Saturday Ladies 18; and Winters for the Wednesday Ladies 9. There were no Ladies 9 players for Saturday.

Recording birdies in April were Fuller and Murzyn with two. Chip-ins were recorded by Fuller, Montano, Murzyn, Sandy Watts and Kristine Barrett. An update from March adds a chip-in each for Watts and Jaramillo, with Watts scoring two birdies. One birdie was scored by Murzyn.

Shooting Low Gross scores during the month for the Ladies 18 category were Murzyn with four and Martinez with one in the Ladies 9 category.

A special format called the Blind Nine Game was played on April 23. Coming in first for the Ladies 18 was Murzyn, followed by Fuller in second place, and Valdez in third place. The winner for the Ladies 9 was Martinez, with second place going to Winters, and third place going to Beverly Turley.

Play days for May will include the Eclectic Tournament for both Ladies 18 and Ladies 9 players. Ace Day competitions will also be played.
