Pruitt to play beach volleyball in North Carolina
LOS LUNAS — When Madison Pruitt, of Los Lunas, a second-team All-State selection for the Tigers, decided to play college beach volleyball, she went all in.
Pruitt will not only be traveling across the country to compete at Wingate University in North Carolina, she will only be a three-hour drive to Myrtle Beach, one of the most famous sandy beaches in the world.
“Honestly, I get to play literally on the beach,” said Pruitt, who was a standout outside hitter for LLHS on a traditional volleyball court. “It’s just warm, the environment is great. I get to tan and play at the same time.”
The journey east started for Pruitt when she was spotted by the Wingate coach at a beach volleyball tournament nearby.
Pruitt, who will study physical therapy, believes attending a Division II school will be a good fit.
“I get to play beach volleyball and balance academics versus college level volleyball,” where the time-commitment is greater.
