Women’s Golf Association season ends; officers named
RIO COMMUNITIES — As the 2025 Women’s Golf Association season came to a close in November, the number of play days were very limited.
The Nov. 5 scramble was won by the team of Berta Murzyn, Fran Griffeth, Marilyn Winters and Beverly Turley. Placing second was the team of Kathryn Bayless, Tammie Fuller, Paula Valdez and Joanne Romero.
Ladies 18 First Gross winner was Murzyn with two wins. Ladies 18 First Net Winners were Regina Chavez and Fuller, each with one. In the Ladies 9 division Griffeth had one First Gross, and Anna Martinez had one Second Gross win.
There were no made birdies, but Murzyn finished the year strong with three chip-ins. The lone Ace Day winner for the month was Winters, who won in the Ladies 18 division.
The final event for the month was the annual Christmas luncheon at Tierra del Sol on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Named as returning officers for the 2026 season are Jeannie Burleson, president; Tammie Fuller, vice-president; Marilyn Winters, secretary; and Marilyn Jaramillo, treasurer.
Awards were given in the Ringer Board category, which ran from April through November.
In the Handicap 10-19 division Murzyn was the winner, and in the Handicap 20-28 Division, M. Jaramillo was the winner.
Winning in the Handicap 29-43 Division was Fuller, and Martinez won the Ladies 9 Division. Most Improved honors went to Rebecca Gallegos.
The award for Most Chip-ins for the year went to Edie Redfearn-Moore and Murzyn won the award for Most Birdies for the year.
