This is the final week before district play begins in baseball and softball, with track season hitting its stride.

Baseball

On Tuesday, Belen (5-6) scored nine runs in the first inning to beat Socorro 20-1. Starting Thursday, the Eagles are at the Moriarty Tournament.

Los Lunas (7-7) stymied St. Pius 11-0. Thursday, the Tigers have their first home game, versus Sandia.

Valencia (6-6) lost 9-4 at Albuquerque High and will play in the West Las Vegas tournament starting Thursday.

Softball

Tuesday, LLHS (9-2) scored the last seven runs to beat Gallup 7-6, and Thursday will be in Rio Rancho’s Sal Puentes Tournament.

Also Thursday, BHS (5-9) is in the Moriarty Tournament.

Valencia (3-9) lost 9-1 at West Las Vegas Tuesday and play Thursday in a WLV Tournament.

Track

The LLHS boys are on an excellent run, dominating the recent Turner Invitational in Farmington and capturing Saturday’s Rio Rancho Rust Buster.
